Vote: Better Together
Terms of Use
The terms for using Vote, and the community guidelines everyone agrees to.
Vote is in development. References to store purchases apply only where those purchases are offered. These terms are available in English on this website.
Terms
These terms
These terms are an agreement between you and the business that operates the Vote: Better Together app (“Vote”, “we”):
Name: VOTEBT
Legal form: a sole proprietorship registered in Ontario, Canada
Address: Toronto, Ontario, Canada
They apply when you use the Vote app and its web pages. By creating an account you accept them, together with the Community guidelines. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your personal data.
Who can use Vote
You must be 18 or older and legally able to agree to these terms. One account per person: use your own photos, your real first name and your real age, and don’t create an account for anyone else. You may not use Vote if we have closed your account before, unless we agree.
Your account
You sign in with Apple, Google or an e-mail address. Keep your sign-in secure, and tell us through Settings › Help & support if you think someone else is using your account. You are responsible for what is done with your account.
How Vote works
In Discover you can like someone, like them with a note or pass, and two likes make a match. In community Vote, members read pairs of other people and say whether the two make sense together. Reads are opinions, not facts. A pair’s result is shown only after at least five people have read it, as a share rounded to 5% with a word such as “Most” or “Few”, and it belongs to the pair, never to one person. Once at least ten other people have read a pair you read, you also see the exact share of them who answered as you did. Once you have seen a pair’s result, your read on that pair is final. When readers see something strong, Vote may introduce the two people, and they are connected only if both say yes. Astrology in Vote is for fun only and never decides anything. Vote does not promise matches, introductions, dates or relationships.
Your content
You own what you post: your photos, words and answers. You give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, copy, adapt (for example to resize a photo) and show your content in Vote, only according to your settings and only to run Vote. The licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies kept for an open safety report or in backups until they expire, as our Privacy Policy explains. You must have the right to post what you post, and you may not post anyone else’s photos or personal details without their permission.
Rules of conduct
Follow the Community guidelines. In particular, don’t:
• harass, threaten or bully anyone, or attack anyone for who they are
• post sexual content without consent, or anything sexual involving a minor
• deceive or scam anyone, or ask anyone for money
• impersonate anyone or use photos that aren’t yours
• post anything illegal or that infringes someone else’s rights
• advertise, sell or recruit
• share someone’s messages, photos or personal details outside Vote without their consent, or reveal anyone’s sexual orientation or gender identity
• use bots or scripts, scrape, copy or reverse engineer Vote, or get around its limits or security
• create or coordinate accounts to sway reads
Community
Your profile posts, reposts and quotes appear on your Community profile and in Feed according to your audience. Others see only the original content they may still access. Saving and muting are private, and nobody is notified of them.
You are responsible for what you post. Don’t impersonate anyone, take a @username to mislead or to hold it, publish another person’s private information, upload content you have no right to share, or use Community to harass, defraud or spam. We may refuse or reset a @username that breaks these terms, impersonates someone or infringes someone’s rights. A private room or message is not permission to share someone else’s private information elsewhere.
To report content you believe is unlawful, use the report option in the app or write to us through Settings › Help & support, saying what identifies the content and why you believe it is unlawful.
Limits and fair use
To keep Vote fair, each account can like, add notes, read pairs, propose pairs and send chat photos only up to certain limits in a period. The limits are shown in the app and may change. Reading pairs is the community’s shared work and is never sold. Vote may limit or stop automated or abusive use, and may give less weight to, or set aside, reads that look automated or coordinated.
Paid plans
Vote is free to use, with the Vote Free plan. Optional paid plans, Vote Plus and Vote Max, are not on sale yet. When Vote offers them, what each plan includes and its price are shown in the app before you buy, and Vote’s servers decide what your plan includes. A plan never changes how the community reads pairs or what a result means, and privacy settings, blocking and reporting are the same on every plan. All Vote features, including rating, history, following pairs, proposals and changing a rating, are free on every plan. Discover’s paid features remain subject to the plan shown in the app. Safety and fair-use limits still apply.
Subscriptions
Where they are offered, Vote Plus and Vote Max are sold through the App Store as auto-renewing subscriptions. Payment is charged to your Apple ID, and the price and period are shown before you buy. A subscription renews automatically unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before the current period ends, in your iPhone’s Settings › your name › Subscriptions. Cancelling keeps the plan until the end of the period you paid for. Refunds are handled by Apple under its terms. A subscription belongs to the Vote account it was bought with. Deleting your Vote account does not cancel an App Store subscription: cancel it with Apple. Your rights as a consumer under the law are not affected.
Your safety
Vote does not run criminal background checks or verify identities, and photo verification is not available yet. Be careful with people you meet: take your time, meet in public, tell a friend and never send money. Report anyone who breaks these terms or makes you feel unsafe. If you are in danger, contact local emergency services first: Vote cannot send help.
Moderation, suspension and appeals
We may remove content, limit features, or pause, suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, the Community guidelines or the law, or that puts others at risk. People on Vote’s team make these decisions. The only automatic measures are these: Vote’s servers refuse a short list of threatening words and slurs, a report blocks the reported person for the reporter by default, a reported chat photo is kept for review, and a new account that matches a banned account is suspended until a person has looked at it. We tell you about a restriction and, unless the law or someone’s safety prevents it, why. You can appeal from the screen your account shows or from Settings › Help & support, and a person on our team reviews your appeal and answers in the app. Anyone can report content or an account from its menu in the app.
Ending your account
You can pause or delete your account at any time from Settings. Deleting it removes your account, profile, photos, likes, reads, follows, matches, the conversations you were part of, introductions, blocks, your support requests and the reports you made that are closed. Your Community data goes as our Privacy Policy describes under “Community: deleting, and what stays”. A report still open when you delete your account, one you made or one about you, is kept, no longer linked to any account, until Vote’s safety team closes it, together with a chat photo it concerns, so that a safety review can finish. The copy of the last messages and the reported profile kept when a report was filed also stays, without the original account ID, until 90 days after the report is closed. We may close your account if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, or if we stop offering Vote, and we will tell you in advance where we reasonably can.
Vote’s app and name
Vote, its name, design and software belong to us or our licensors. We give you a personal, non-transferable licence, which we may revoke, to use the app for its purpose under these terms. If you downloaded Vote from the App Store, Apple’s standard licence terms for apps also apply, and Apple is not responsible for Vote or its content.
Changes to Vote
Vote is a young service. We may add, change or remove features, and Vote may sometimes be unavailable, for example for maintenance. We will tell you in the app about changes that matter to you.
Liability
We provide Vote with reasonable care and skill, but we cannot guarantee that it will always be available or free of errors, or how other members behave. As far as the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or unforeseeable loss, or for the conduct of other members on or off Vote. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, intent or gross negligence, or any other liability that the law does not allow us to limit, and nothing affects your mandatory rights as a consumer.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change matters to you, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect. If you don’t agree, you can delete your account before then. The version and its date are at the end.
Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory law of the province or country where you live, including its consumer protection law, wherever it gives you more protection, and nothing in these terms takes that away. You can bring a claim in the courts of Ontario or, where your local law allows, in the courts where you live. Please write to us first through Settings › Help & support, so we can try to solve the problem together. In Quebec, the Consumer Protection Act applies to you in full. In the EU, the EEA and the UK you keep the protections of the law where you live and can go to its courts. In Türkiye you can also apply to the consumer arbitration committees and consumer courts.
General
If a part of these terms is found invalid, the rest still applies. If we don’t enforce a right at once, we have not given it up. We may transfer these terms to a company that takes over Vote, and will tell you if we do. You may not transfer your account.
Language of these terms
These terms are written in English and translated into the other languages Vote offers. If a translation and the English text differ, the English text prevails, unless the law where you live requires otherwise.

Community guidelines
Be real
Use your own photos and your real age. One person, one account. No impersonation.
Read generously
Every pair is two real people. Reads are about fit, never about ranking anyone or judging looks alone.
A no is final
Don’t pressure anyone to accept a like, a match or an introduction.
Keep private things private
Don’t share anyone’s messages, photos or details outside Vote without their consent, and never reveal anyone’s sexual orientation or gender identity.
Zero tolerance
Harassment, hate, threats, scams and sexual content without consent lead to removal.
Kind words
Vote’s servers refuse threats of sexual violence, words telling someone to kill themselves and slurs on a short list, and the app asks “Are you sure?” before words that may hurt. No filter catches everything: if a message bothers you, report it, and a person on Vote’s team reviews it.
Be genuine in Community
Don’t pretend to be someone else, mislead people about who you are, or run accounts to manipulate follows, posts, reports or reading.
Respect people and their privacy
No threats, targeted harassment or hate. Never share someone else’s photos, private messages, contact details, precise location or dating profile without their consent.
Keep Community useful
No spam, bulk soliciting or deceptive links. Disagree kindly about weekly questions, and don’t use questions or rooms to pressure anyone or to steer how pairs are read.
Report concerns
Use report and block. People on Vote’s team review what is reported and act in proportion, and you are told when something of yours is removed. You can ask for a review of a decision through Settings › Help & support.
